The national organization was founded in 1968 began to increase the awareness of biomedical engineering knowledge and its utilization in many different aspects. The national organization also holds an annual academic conference where interested individuals can showcase their research and get feedback from the field’s leading experts.
The Biomedical Engineering Society at Santa Clara University was founded in 2010 and is dedicated to promoting the profession of bioengineering through study, research, and discussion of current technological advances and issues in the biomedical field. The student chapter further immerses its members into the biomedical field through social, community, and professional activities. Discounted student membership to the national organization is also provided by the chapter.
